G’DAY! I’M MEL (She/Her).

I’M A JAZZ SINGER/SONGWRITER & COACH HELPING YOU REDEFINE FEAR ONE SONG AT A TIME. THIS IS MY STORY.

I teach my clients to love the voices they have, step into their power and build their creative empires.

I created the Fearless Singer mantra to be aspirational but also to let you in on the continuous inner work that goes along with developing our singing voices and making music. While it can be fun, it can also be bloody scary.

This may sound daunting, but actually, it can be deeply rewarding and life-changing.

I know this because I have seen the impact of committing to showing up daily with action steps towards their creative dreams has made on my clients’ lives.

They have learnt to truly love their voices as well as the process of discovering their potential and realising their singing dreams.

Fearless Singer is about spreading this message: We can all sing. And we must for the benefit of our hearts and souls.

I haven't always been in alignment with this purpose, however. I'm going, to be honest with you, fear held me back for a long time.

It was seven years ago when I chose to redefine fear as an empowering emotion rather than a crippling one.

I ditched the corporate world and became a professional singer, performer, mentor/healer and creator.

My story…

Born in Bundaberg, I grew up with the sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and 80's Greek pop music blaring from my family stereo.

The first moment I realized I wanted to make a career as a singer was when my Dad bought me a Nina Simone cassette tape as a seven-year-old. Transfixed by Simone's dark, glorious tone and the vibrant sounds of the music, I became hooked. I knew without a doubt that I wanted to make music for the rest of my life.

Doubt set in, however, and I sought professions that gave me a sense of security and importance. The problem was, it never did, no matter how high I climbed the corporate ladder.

My life since then has been a series of radical changes in order to find my way back home.

☀︎ I quit my job in the public service

☾ I lived in London for two years, sang in a 60’s garage band and travelled throughout Europe

☀︎ and taught English in Shanghai

☾ I studied jazz in Australia.

Now I perform nationally and internationally as a jazz singer. I have a Masters’ of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium and post-graduate qualifications in vocal pedagogy and in education.

Through self-coaching, I have learned how to combine my talents to be of service to the world.

And I have to say it's a real privilege and an honour!

Watching my clients transform when they find their voice and access their creativity is truly humbling.

My vision for Fearless Singer is to help you realize your full creative potential. I want Fearless Singer to be a place where you feel inspired, connected and supported to find your voice and live your full creative life.

Much love to you!
